Maya, your first touch set up your next pass today. A good touch buys you time. Next, use your left foot more. Defenders can’t guess which way you’ll go. Your runs off the ball were great. They open space for everyone.

Soccer FAQ

Questions soccer
coaches and parents ask.

Rate specific skills one at a time, on one scale for every player. Rate what holds up at game speed. Then name one strength and one skill to work on next. Repeat it through the season so the ratings show growth. UpLVL tracks 30 soccer skills this way.
UpLVL rates every player in four areas. Technical, such as ball control, passing, shooting and weak foot. Tactical, such as positioning, off-ball movement and press resistance. Physical, such as speed & acceleration, agility & change of direction and athleticism. Mental, such as attitude, coachability and communication.
Young players start with a few broad skills. Each one splits in two as they improve. Ball Control splits into First Touch and Dribbling. Passing splits into Short Passing & Combinations and Long Passing & Switching Play. Shooting splits into Shot Accuracy & Placement and Shot Power & Technique. Off-Ball Movement splits into Off-Ball Runs & Timing and Pressing & Defensive Shape. Defending splits into 1v1 Defending and Defensive Positioning & Organization.
U.S. Soccer allows no heading at 11U and younger, in practice or in games. At 12U and 13U, heading practice is limited to 30 minutes a week. UpLVL does not show heading work to teams under that age.
Start with these drills: Juggling Foundations (ball control), Inside Foot Pass Foundation (passing), Laces Shooting Foundation (shooting), Weak Foot Only Dribble (weak foot), Find Your Spot (positioning). All of them are free and each has a diagram.
