Your focus
The inability to shoot with the weak foot is the most exploited technical weakness in soccer. Training weak-foot finishing in goal-scoring contexts , with the positive reinforcement of scored goals , builds the confidence that makes players genuinely two-footed attackers.
Place shooting positions: right of goal (favors left foot), left of goal (favors right foot).
Player must shoot from the position that requires their weak foot.
5 shots from the right side (weak left foot); 5 from left side (weak right foot).
Count goals scored and on-target shots separately.
Rest and repeat for 4 rounds.
Track improvement in goals scored per round across the session.
Goal
Success is finishing cleanly on goal at least 3 out of 6 attempts with the weak foot, it doesn't have to be powerful, but it needs to be accurate.
Helpful cues
- Shoot at the near post, it's closer and more forgiving for the weak foot
- Don't step around the ball, use your weak foot from where the ball is
- Set your body up: plant foot beside ball, lean forward, shoot
