Your focus
Positional play in rondos teaches players to maintain structural relationships , not just pass and move randomly. Players who understand depth, width, and height in small groups become the positional anchors that organize teams at higher levels.
5v2 rondo in a 15-yard circle.
Of the 5 possessing players, one must always be 'high' (closest to a cone goal), one 'wide left,' one 'wide right,' one 'deep,' one acts as free pivot.
Positions must be maintained as the ball moves, players shift to keep their positional role.
If three players cluster in the same zone, coach blows whistle, ball goes to defenders.
Play for 6 minutes; count consecutive positional passes.
Rotate positions every 2 minutes.
Goal
It's clicking when high, wide, and deep options are always available at the same time, no moment where all three players are crowded in the same area.
Helpful cues
- Your position is determined by the ball's position, shift with it
- When someone moves into your zone, you must find a new one
- Positions serve the team, not your personal preference for where to stand
