Your focus
Drilling in isolation does not guarantee application under pressure; live scoring rounds with attack-specific metrics expose the gap between drill performance and match performance. Tracking attack rate (attempts per minute) and completion percentage gives wrestlers and coaches objective data to guide development. Advanced wrestlers learn to create opportunities rather than waiting for them in neutral.
Run 2-minute live rounds with a partner of equal or greater skill; a coach or designated partner tracks all shot attempts and completions.
Wrestlers are instructed to attack a minimum of 3 times per minute from neutral, passive wrestling is explicitly penalized in the debrief.
After each round, coach provides the attack rate and completion percentage data immediately.
Wrestlers identify which setups generated their most completable shots and use this data to refine their neutral game.
Goal
It's real when your attack percentage and completion rate improve from the start of the round to the end, aggression and execution both showing up.
Helpful cues
- Create the setup, then attack, stop waiting for perfect
- Three attacks per minute minimum, if you're counting, you're not attacking enough
- Every failed shot tells you something, learn it instantly and adapt
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Reduce the minimum attack requirement to 2 per minute and allow cooperative resistance from the defender.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Add a constraint: wrestler must use at least two different attacks during the round, no single-weapon wrestling. No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
