Your focus
Score-situation awareness is a hallmark of experienced, high-IQ wrestlers and is the bridge between athletic ability and tactical execution. A wrestler who knows when to attack aggressively versus when to secure a lead makes fundamentally better decisions throughout a match. Repeated situational sparring develops this judgment systematically.
Coach assigns a score and time scenario before each round (e.g., 'Up three, one minute left').
Wrestler must state their strategy before the whistle, attack, stall, ride, or score more.
Two-minute live round; coach observes whether decisions match the stated strategy.
Post-round: did the decision match the situation? What changed mid-round and why?
Goal
You're there when your live round plays out the assigned score-situation game plan, you made the right tactical choice before the whistle.
