How it works
Improve multi-directional speed and court coverage efficiency using a volleyball-specific T-drill pattern.

- cones

- volleyball court
Your focus
Elite defensive players must move forward, laterally, and backward in rapid sequence during a single rally. The T-drill trains all three planes of movement while building acceleration and deceleration control. Timed repetitions create competitive urgency that mirrors game pressure.
Set cones in a T: center back (start), 5 yards forward (middle), 5 yards left, 5 yards right.
Player sprints forward from center back to the middle cone.
Player shuffles left to the left cone, touches it, then shuffles right all the way to the right cone.
Player shuffles back to middle cone, then backpedals to the starting position.
Record time. Target under 8 seconds for beginners, under 6.5 seconds for competitive players. Rest 45 seconds between attempts; complete 6 attempts.
Goal
You're there when you complete the T-pattern and feel in control at every direction change, fast but not stumbling.
Helpful cues
- Low center of gravity throughout
- Shuffle, don't cross, on lateral legs
- Drive your arms on the sprint segments

Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
