How it works
Compete at full quality and commitment while starting from a deliberate deficit.
Your focus
The scoreboard is one of the most common focus disruptors in competition. Athletes who compete differently when losing , rushing, pressing, abandoning process , are giving away performance to the score. This drill trains scoreboard indifference by making the deficit the starting point, not a mid-game event.
Set up a drill with a point system. Start the player at zero, give the partner or objective a five-point head start.
Player competes as if the score is 0–0. Each play is independent.
Coach watches for behavioral changes caused by the deficit: rushing, abandoning form, reduced effort.
After the drill, debrief: what changed in your execution or decision-making when losing?
Goal: coach sees identical execution quality regardless of score gap.
Goal
Coach observes no behavioral or execution changes attributable to the score differential.
Helpful cues
- Each play is the only play, the score is just a number
- Rushing because you're down is a second mistake on top of the first
- The athlete who plays the same down ten as up ten is hard to beat

Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
