How it works

Deliberately raise group energy and focus before an activity using only body language, vocal energy, and presence.

Your focus

Energy is contagious , and leaders are the source. This drill trains the specific behaviors that shift a group's state before the whistle blows: eye contact, upright posture, deliberate vocal energy, and a clear focus signal. Coaches notice tone-setters because they change the practice environment before a word is said.

1

Before a drill begins, player has 30 seconds to raise the energy level of the group.

2

Tools allowed: body language, vocal energy, direct address, no drills, no speeches.

3

Coach rates the group's energy before and after (1–10 scale).

4

Goal: measurably higher group energy after the 30 seconds.

5

Debrief: what specific actions moved the number? What felt natural vs. what required deliberate effort?

Goal

Group energy rating increases by at least two points after the player's 30-second tone-setting.

Helpful cues

  • Tone is set in the first 30 seconds, everything after follows it
  • High energy isn't loud, it's focused and intentional
  • You can't wait for the group to give you energy, leaders create it
