How it works
Execute each rep with a single coaching cue as the sole focus, no self-coaching, no extras.
Your focus
Athletes who self-coach during feedback rarely apply the given cue. This drill trains the discipline of locking onto one external input and filtering everything else out. Over time it builds the habit of trusting the coach's read instead of overriding it with internal commentary.
Before each rep, coach or partner gives ONE specific cue, nothing else.
Player's entire focus is executing that one cue. All other thoughts get filed away.
After the rep, player rates 1–5 how well they executed the cue.
Coach rates independently, compare and discuss the gap.
Run five reps. If scores consistently differ by two or more, examine the self-assessment gap.
Goal
Player's self-rating matches coach's rating within one point on at least three of five reps.
Helpful cues
- One cue is a target, commit to it completely
- Self-assessment gap tells you something about body awareness
- Rate the cue execution, not the overall rep quality
