How it works

Convert every failed rep into one specific, actionable lesson, applied immediately on the next rep.

Your focus

The difference between athletes who improve quickly and those who plateau is often what they do with failure. Athletes who convert misses into lessons accumulate more useful reps per session. This drill makes lesson extraction a reflex , automatic, fast, and always pointing forward.

1

After any missed rep or failed drill objective, player must immediately state one lesson.

2

The lesson must be actionable: 'I need to adjust my weight transfer', not 'I'm bad at this.'

3

Apply the lesson explicitly on the very next rep.

4

Coach confirms the lesson was applied (not just stated).

5

After ten reps, player reviews their lesson log: how specific and applicable were they? Which ones actually changed the next rep?

Goal

Coach confirms lesson was correctly applied on eight of ten consecutive missed reps.

Helpful cues

  • A lesson that doesn't change the next rep isn't a lesson yet
  • Specific lesson, specific improvement, vague lesson, same mistake
  • The missed rep is raw material, the lesson is what you make with it

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

UpLVL it
