How it works

Take deliberate responsibility for raising and sustaining partner or group energy through intentional attitude choices.

Your focus

Waiting for the environment to energize you is passive. High-attitude athletes understand that energy is a resource they can generate and distribute , not just receive. This drill makes energy management an explicit skill by assigning responsibility, measuring outcomes, and debriefing what specific behaviors moved the number.

1

Player takes explicit ownership of group energy for the drill, announced at the start.

2

After every outcome (good or bad), player responds with clapping, vocal uplift, or positive body language.

3

Coach rates group energy (1–10) at the start and again at the end of the drill.

4

Goal: energy number increases from start to end through player's intentional choices.

5

Debrief: which behaviors moved the number? Which felt forced? Which felt natural?

Goal

Group energy rating increases by two or more points by end of drill, sustained to the last rep.

Helpful cues

  • Energy is a choice, not a condition
  • The response after a bad outcome is the real test
  • Fake energy fades fast, build genuine appreciation for the work
