How it works

Play a 1v1 game against a parent in a small grid using only the weak foot, for passing, dribbling, and shooting.

What you need

  • soccer ball

Your focus

The only way to truly develop the weak foot is to be forced to use it under competitive pressure with no escape. A constrained 1v1 game creates the exact conditions needed to wire the weak foot into match play.

1

Set a 6x10 yard grid with mini goals at each end.

2

Player and parent play 1v1. Rule: weak foot only for all touches.

3

If the strong foot is used, possession switches immediately.

4

Play 3-minute rounds, 90-second rest. Do 4 rounds.

5

First person to 5 goals wins the round.

Goal

You've got it when you score at least 2 goals per round and make fewer than 3 strong-foot errors.

Helpful cues

  • Set up every touch to favor the weak foot
  • Take the time to be clean, don't rush weak-foot touches
  • Protect the ball until the weak foot is in position
