How it works
Lead a team through a full practice scrimmage making all tactical decisions without coach input.

Your focus
Advanced leadership requires autonomous tactical decision-making under live game pressure. Removing the coach from the decision loop forces the captain to develop genuine authority, build trust with teammates, and take full ownership , the developmental leap from follower to leader.
Designate a captain for each team. Coach leaves the space entirely.
Teams organize themselves: starting lineup, set pieces, pressing trigger.
Play a full 15-minute scrimmage.
Captain manages substitutions (if rotating players), calls any necessary timeouts.
After the game, captain gives a brief debrief to their team.
Coach then reviews with both captains privately, what decisions were made and why?
Helpful cues
- Captain: own every decision, right or wrong, commit to it
- Teammates: follow your captain's lead, then give private feedback after
- Great captains create an environment where others can perform, that's the job
