Your focus
Young players often become frustrated after missing and give up effort on the next attempt. Teaching a specific reset after a missed shot builds the neural habit of bouncing back quickly , a skill that separates resilient players from brittle ones.
Place a mini goal 8 yards from the shooting spot. Player has 5 balls.
Player shoots one ball at a time. After each shot, scored or missed, they must do the 'reset': arms out, deep breath, say 'next one.'
Coach models the reset before the drill begins.
After 5 shots, player retrieves all balls and goes again.
Coach praises the reset quality, not the number of goals scored.
Run 3 rounds of 5 shots each.
