How it works

Complete a dribbling challenge after being intentionally fatigued and under external time pressure.

What you need

  • cones
  • soccer ball
  • goal

Your focus

Resilience includes technical resilience , the ability to execute skills when tired. Training under fatigue teaches players that technique can be maintained despite physical and mental exhaustion, which is critical in the final minutes of competitive games.

1

Player completes 20 burpees (or 10 sprints) to create fatigue.

2

Immediately, player must dribble through a 10-cone slalom course.

3

Coach and teammates count down loudly from 20 seconds, creating time pressure.

4

Player must reach the end and finish with a composed shot on goal.

5

Compare times and technique scores (1-3 scale for control quality) fresh vs. fatigued.

6

Repeat twice more; track improvement in composure under fatigue.

Goal

Success is completing the dribble at the same quality level after the fatigue round. If the fatigued rep looks close to the fresh rep, your composure is real.

Helpful cues

  • Tired is normal, dropping quality is a choice
  • Focus narrows when you're tired, put all attention on the ball
  • Slow your breathing with your first touch to reset

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Use walking dribble only after the fatigue exercise.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge
