How it works

Compete in a high-pressure tournament where elimination tests composure and resilience in real competitive scenarios.

What you need

  • cones
  • soccer ball
  • scrimmage vests
  • goals

Your focus

True composure and resilience are revealed under real competitive pressure with real consequences. Tournament formats that feature elimination create the authentic emotional intensity that tests and builds these qualities better than any non-competitive drill.

1

Run a round-robin tournament with 4 teams of 4. Losing team is eliminated per round.

2

Eliminated teams must complete a brief physical challenge (sprints) and return mentally reset.

3

Returning teams compete in a separate bracket, they can still win overall.

4

Coach scores each team on 'resilience metrics': intensity after losing, body language, encouragement.

5

Final winner is the team with best combined score of game results + resilience score.

6

Debrief: identify the best moment of resilience from any team.

Helpful cues

  • You're not playing for yourself right now, your teammates need your best after a loss
  • The physical challenge after elimination is an opportunity, use it to reset
  • Championships are won by teams who responded best to adversity, not who avoided it

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

No elimination, just track resilience points across a round-robin with no stakes.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Eliminated teams return with one fewer player and must overcome the disadvantage.
