How it works

Receive specific technical feedback on passing technique and apply it in the next repetition.

What you need

  • cones
  • soccer ball

Your focus

Coachability is demonstrated by applying feedback immediately rather than continuing old habits. This drill creates a structured feedback loop so players practice receiving and acting on specific technical guidance.

1

Players pair up and pass from 10 yards apart.

2

After each pass, coach gives one specific piece of feedback to the passer.

3

Player acknowledges verbally ('got it' or 'okay coach') before their next pass.

4

Coach checks whether the feedback was applied in the next repetition.

5

If applied correctly, coach gives a new piece of feedback.

6

Rotate pairs after 4 minutes; compare improvement across the session.

Helpful cues

  • Nod or say 'got it' so I know you heard me
  • Try it my way even if it feels different at first
  • One thing at a time, fix it, then move to the next

Strip it back

Only one type of feedback per round, all players work on the same correction.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge
