How it works
Dribble through a slalom course of cones using quick foot touches to change direction.
What you need
- cones
- soccer ball
Your focus
Weaving through cones at low speed builds foundational agility patterns and teaches young players to shift weight laterally. Early repetition of change-of-direction movement creates neuromuscular pathways that carry into game situations.
Set up 6 cones in a straight line, 2 yards apart.
Player starts at one end with a ball at their feet.
Dribble through the cones, weaving left and right around each one using soft touches.
Reach the last cone, stop the ball, turn, and dribble back through.
Repeat 3 times, then rest.
Goal
You've got it when you weave through all the cones without knocking any over and the ball stays right next to your foot the whole time.
Helpful cues
- Eyes up, not on the ball
- Small quick touches
- Bend your knees when turning
