How it works

Disrupt a live ball carrier using only stick checks in a 1v1 competitive situation.

What you need

  • lacrosse stick
  • lacrosse ball
  • goal

Your focus

Live 1v1 stick check competitions train the full spectrum of checking skills , reading, timing, execution, and recovery , under genuine competitive pressure. The no-body-contact rule forces technical excellence.

1

1v1 in a 5x10 yard corridor toward goal. Defender may only use stick checks (no body contact).

2

Ball carrier tries to exit the corridor and shoot. Defender must dislodge the ball or force a turnover.

3

If ball carrier exits without a dislodge, they get a free shot. If defender creates a turnover, they earn a point.

4

Play to 5 points, alternating offense/defense roles.

Goal

It's clicking when you dislodge the ball or force a bobble at least 3 out of 5 reps in a live situation, stick checks creating real disruption.

Helpful cues

  • Every check must have a specific target, no random swings
  • Body position sets up your check, get in checking range without overcommitting first
  • A near-miss dislodge still disrupts the cradle, don't give up after an imperfect check

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Ball carrier moves at 75% speed; corridor is slightly wider.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Ball carrier can pass to a neutral receiver if the defender over-commits; defender must also take away the passing lane.
