Shooting

Legend

  • shooter
  • feeder
  • four shooting cones
  • ball
  • cone rotation
  • shots on the run

How it works

Execute an accurate shot while moving at full speed from multiple angles around the crease.

What you need

  • lacrosse stick
  • lacrosse ball
  • goal
  • cones

Your focus

Almost all goals in lacrosse are scored while the shooter is moving. Training accurate shooting at full speed from multiple angles prepares players for the exact conditions in which goals are scored in games.

1

Set up 4 shooting stations around the crease at 8-12 yard distances.

2

Player runs from one cone to the next, receiving a pass at each cone and shooting on the run.

3

Player must shoot before their back foot passes the cone, no stopping to set up.

4

Complete 2 full rotations around all 4 stations. Track accuracy percentage per station.

Goal

You're there when your on-the-run shot stays on frame at full speed, not pulling up to aim, just trusting your mechanics while moving.

Helpful cues

  • Let your momentum add power to the shot, don't fight against it
  • Plant foot perpendicular to goal at the shot cone
  • Top hand leads the shot, drive it through at the corner

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Jog to each station rather than full-speed runs.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

A live goalie and a close-out defender are added at each station.

This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.

After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
