Corner-Picking Drill
Shooting
Legend

- ball
- four called-corner shots
How it works
Develop the ability to pick a specific corner of the goal on every shot attempt.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
- goal
Your focus
Goalies are trained to play the high-probability shot zones (center, middle). Teaching players to consistently target corners creates the shooting accuracy that defeats trained goalies. Intention before execution is the key habit being built.
Player calls their target corner (high-left, high-right, low-left, low-right) before each shot.
Player shoots from the 10-yard mark attempting to hit the called corner.
Coach or partner tracks whether the shot hit the called corner.
Complete 20 shots. Calculate corner accuracy percentage.
Goal
Success is hitting your called corner at least 4 out of 6 reps, not just shooting on frame, but placing the ball where you said you would.
Helpful cues
- Pick your corner before you start the shooting motion
- Low corners are hardest to save, develop your low shot first
- A miss to the called corner is better than a made shot to the wrong corner, you're training intention
