How it works
Carry the ball through a simulated ride with directional changes, switching hands at each cone.
What you need
- 5 cones
- lacrosse stick
- ball
Your focus
A riding defender forces you to change direction and protect the ball simultaneously. Slalom carries build the coordination and ambidextrous cradling needed to navigate a ride without turning it over.
Set 5 cones in a line 5 yards apart down the field.
Start at the defensive end cone with ball in stick.
Sprint and weave through all 5 cones, switch hands at each gate.
Finish with a strong acceleration through the last cone to midfield.
Walk back and repeat 6 reps.
Goal
You've got it when you navigate all 5 cones with a clean hand switch at each one and no dropped balls on 4 of 6 reps.
Helpful cues
- Head up, look past the next cone, not at the current one
- Switch hands at the cone, not before it
- Finish strong, accelerate through the last cone
