How it works
Execute a full-field sweep clear, collecting under pressure, turning to the open side, and delivering a long clearing pass to a specific target.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
- 3 cones
- target (cone or net)
Your focus
When the ride is on, the goalie needs to generate length. The sweep clear uses your whole body to get the ball 40+ yards to an open midfielder.
Place a target cone at midfield (your 'outlet receiver'). Ball starts at the crease.
Pick up the ball, immediately take two hard running strides out of the crease.
Plant your back foot, rotate your hips, and release a full clearing pass to the target.
Repeat 10 times each side. Track how many hit within 3 yards of the cone.
Goal
You're there when the long clearing pass reaches the target zone in the air, not a bounce pass under pressure, but a controlled, purposeful delivery.
Helpful cues
- Generate power from your hips, not your arms
- Long stride into the throw unlocks your range
- Follow through toward your target, don't snap short
