How it works
Execute split dodges through a gauntlet of three passive defenders, completing the sequence with a shot on goal.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
- cones
- goal
Your focus
The split dodge is the highest-percentage dodge for creating shooting lanes. Practicing it in sequence against multiple defenders builds the timing, hand switch, and footwork needed for game situations.
Set 3 cones (or use passive defenders) in a vertical line, 4 yards apart, leading toward goal.
Player attacks each cone/defender one at a time with a split dodge (inside hand switch + burst).
Each split dodge must be to the player's non-dominant side to force proper technique.
After the third dodge, player shoots on goal. Complete 5 full sequences.
Goal
Success is completing the full gauntlet, three clean split dodges, and arriving at the shooting position with your feet set and the ball in your stick.
Helpful cues
- Get the defender moving one way before you switch hands
- The hand switch must be before the burst, not during it
- Each dodge buys you a step; use every step to set up the next dodge
