How it works
Maintain a tight, body-shielded cradle while moving through pressure, protecting the stick without stopping your feet.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
- partner (optional shadow check)
Your focus
Ball carriers who bring the stick to their body and use their frame as a barrier hold possession significantly longer in traffic.
Start at midfield. Cradle with your strong hand, body turned sideways.
Partner applies passive stick-check pressure from your exposed side.
Drive your bottom elbow down to protect the head of the stick behind your back shoulder.
Accelerate through 10 yards, maintaining possession. Switch sides and repeat.
Goal
It's working when you complete at least 10 reps in a row switching hands smoothly, both the transition and the catch on the other side clean each time.
Helpful cues
- Head of stick stays behind your ear, not out front
- Use your hip and shoulder, not just your arms
- Eyes up, read where the pressure is coming from
