Confidence

Legend

How it works

Build confidence by progressing through increasingly difficult skill challenges and earning visible recognition for each level.

What you need

  • lacrosse stick
  • lacrosse ball
  • goal
  • cones

Your focus

Visible progression systems build confidence because players see concrete evidence of growth. Ladder challenges create micro-achievements that sustain motivation and belief in one's own development.

1

Create a 5-level shooting ladder: Level 1 is 5-yard shot, Level 5 is 12-yard shot with a defender.

2

Player starts at Level 1 and must make 3 out of 5 shots to advance.

3

When a player advances a level, teammates cheer and coach marks it on a visible chart.

4

Session ends when each player has attempted at least two levels.

Goal

It's working when you reach the next level on the ladder and immediately attempt the next one, not hanging around a level you've already beaten.

Helpful cues

  • Every level you clear proves you're getting better
  • Don't skip levels, confidence comes from earning each one
  • When you fail a level, you're at the edge of your growth, that's exactly where to work

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Allow 4 out of 6 attempts to advance (more makes).

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Add a time limit (3 shots in 20 seconds) to advance each level.

Build a practice plan

Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents.

This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.

After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
