How it works
Execute both offensive and defensive communication systems simultaneously in a full 6v6 scrimmage setting.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
- cones
- goal
- pinnies
Your focus
Advanced communication training requires players to manage both giving and receiving information in real time. Full 6v6 communication drills replicate game complexity and identify where information bottlenecks occur.
Both offense and defense have assigned communication responsibilities: offense calls cuts and screens, defense calls slides and rotations.
Scrimmage runs for 8 minutes with a coach-designated 'communication captain' on each team.
Communication captain's role: call out any missed communication in real time.
Post-scrimmage: each captain identifies the team's three biggest communication breakdowns.
Helpful cues
- Offense communicates to create, defense communicates to prevent, both happen at the same time
- Communication captains are mentors, not critics
- The best communicators already know what they'll say before the situation arrives
