How it works
Practice verbal communication by calling a teammate's name before every pass.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
Your focus
Young players default to passing without warning, creating missed catches and turnovers. Building the habit of verbal pre-pass communication is foundational to team ball movement.
Players pair up 10 yards apart.
Rule: before every pass, the passer must call their partner's name loudly.
Partner responds with 'ready' and shows their stick as a target.
Pass is made only after the response. Alternate for 3 minutes.
Helpful cues
- Say their name before you throw, every single time
- Use a game voice, loud enough to be heard over crowd noise
- If you don't get a 'ready,' don't throw the ball
