How it works
Develop teamwork by completing a ball-movement pattern to specific colored cones as a group.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
- colored cones
Your focus
Simple team-based tasks with shared goals build cooperative instincts in young players. Passing to a specific cone color forces players to look for teammates and communicate non-verbally.
Set red, blue, and yellow cones in a triangle, 10 yards apart.
Three players start at each cone.
Coach calls a color sequence (e.g., red → blue → yellow). Players must pass the ball between the named cones in order.
If any pass is dropped, the sequence restarts. Complete 5 sequences successfully.
Goal
You've got it when everyone on the team reaches the correct colored cone in the same sequence without anyone getting lost or waiting, one voice, everybody moves.
Helpful cues
- Listen for the color, then find your teammate at that cone
- Show your stick early so your teammate can see where to throw
- If the pass is bad, the team restarts, everyone's responsible
