How it works
Demonstrate coachability by receiving a technique correction during a shooting drill and showing immediate improvement.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
- goal
Your focus
Coachable players have shorter feedback loops. This drill makes the correction-to-improvement cycle explicit and builds the habit of using criticism as a performance tool rather than a personal judgment.
Player takes 3 shots on goal. Coach observes and identifies one specific correction.
Coach delivers the correction using the formula: 'What I saw / What to do instead / Try it now.'
Player takes 3 more shots implementing the correction.
Player self-reports: 'I changed X and it felt Y.' Run through 3 different skills across a practice.
Helpful cues
- Hear the correction, say it back, then do it
- Don't explain why you did it wrong, just try it the new way
- If you can describe what changed, you own the improvement
