Your focus
A coachable player makes a team better immediately by implementing adjustments within the same practice or game. During power play situations, execution gaps are highly visible and corrections must be absorbed quickly. Training players to receive tactical feedback between reps and implement it under live pressure develops practical coachability at a competitive level.
Run a 5-on-4 power play unit drill.
After each 60-second power play segment, coach calls the unit together and gives one specific tactical adjustment ('Bumper, look for the weak-side shot earlier' or 'Overload the left half-wall').
The unit runs the next segment and attempts to implement the adjustment.
Coach evaluates and scores the adjustment implementation, not just the outcome.
