How it works
Test elite ball-carrying evasion by requiring a carrier to evade two live defenders simultaneously in open field to reach the end zone.
What you need
- football
- flags
- cones
Your focus
The 1v2 scenario replicates the real game situation where a ball carrier breaks one tackle equivalent and faces a second defender in the open field. Surviving this drill requires combining multiple evasion moves in sequence , a skill that separates elite flag football carriers. The high difficulty also builds competitive confidence.
Position a ball carrier at the 20-yard line with flags; two defenders start at the 10-yard line, 5 yards apart.
On the snap, carrier takes a handoff and immediately attacks the space between the two defenders.
Carrier must reach the end zone (10 more yards) without having either flag pulled, using any combination of jukes, cuts, and spins.
Run 5 reps; defenders rotate after each rep. Track carrier success rate.
Goal
You're doing it right when you reach the end zone with at least one flag still attached against two live defenders.
Helpful cues
- Attack the gap between defenders first, split them
- Use the first defender's commitment to set up your move on the second
- Stay low and keep moving, stalling is losing
