How it works

Develop peak effort and competitive drive through a structured championship scrimmage series with cumulative scoring and team consequences.

What you need

  • field hockey sticks
  • field hockey ball
  • pinnies
  • goals

Your focus

Cumulative scoring creates escalating stakes that demand sustained competitive drive. Championship format mirrors tournament environments where every point matters. Teams that train under tournament-style pressure develop the mental fortitude needed for real competition.

1

Divide team into 3 teams of equal size; run a round-robin mini championship.

2

Each game is 8 minutes; full effort required for the full game.

3

Points accumulate: 3 for win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss.

4

After the championship, the losing team runs while the winning team watches, respectful but meaningful consequence.

Helpful cues

  • Every game matters, don't decide any game is low stakes
  • Championship mentality: bring it from the first whistle
  • Effort and competitive drive define who you are as a competitor
