Your focus
Games are decided by shots taken under fatigue and contest , the exact conditions that practice shooting never replicates. Elite shooters maintain identical mechanics whether fresh or exhausted, contested or open. Training this under the most difficult conditions builds the shooter who makes the game-winning three in the fourth quarter.
Player runs 5 full-court sprints to reach fatigue state. Immediately begin shooting off picks and screens against a live defender.
20 attempts with active defensive contest on every shot. No uncontested shots allowed.
Between every 5 shots, player runs one half-court sprint to maintain fatigue.
Track make percentage. Goal: hold 40%+ under fatigue and contest over a 6-week cycle.
Goal
It's clicking when your mechanics look the same on shot 15 when fatigued and contested as they did on shot 1 fresh and open, technique doesn't leak when it's truly automatic.
Helpful cues
- Your mechanics don't change just because you're tired, demand the same form
- Slow your landing, fast feet on the catch but controlled release
- This is what it feels like in the fourth quarter, you've been here before
