How it works

Demonstrate elite resilience by making a required number of consecutive free throws despite maximum pressure and consequences for misses.

What you need

  • basketball
  • hoop
  • full team

Your focus

Free throw pressure is the ultimate resilience test because there is nothing to blame except mental fragility. Players who can make clutch free throws in practice under designed maximum pressure build the iron will needed for game-winning free throws in real competition. This drill has ended careers and made champions.

1

Player must make 10 consecutive free throws to complete the drill. If they miss, they start over at zero.

2

Every miss costs the entire team a 30-second conditioning run before the shooter resumes.

3

Teammates must stay supportive (no groaning or frustration), any negative teammate response adds another run.

4

Track how many total attempts each player needed to make 10 consecutive. Work to reduce this over time.

Helpful cues

  • Ten in a row is yours, don't give it away with a mental breakdown on miss 8
  • Your teammates are running because they believe in you, honor that
  • The pressure of the drill is the point, that's exactly what you'll feel in a championship game
