Your focus
Rebounding is the purest effort play in basketball , it requires drive and commitment above all else. Teaching young players to compete for rebounds early instills the competitive habits that make teams successful at every level. A team that out-rebounds the opponent almost always wins.
Two players line up beside each other at the block. Coach shoots the ball.
On the shot, both players sprint to the ball and try to secure the rebound.
Player who gets the ball gets 1 point. First to 5 points wins.
Rotate to different positions, left block, right block, lane line, for equal opportunity.
Goal
You've got it when you sprint to the rebound even when you think you're too far away, sometimes you get there, and that's what separates players who hustle from players who don't.
Helpful cues
- Two hands, grab it, don't tip it
- Go to the ball, don't wait for it to come to you
- Want it more than they do, that's the only rule that matters
