How it works
Win the rebounding battle in a 2v2 box-out competition that demands maximum competitive drive and physicality.

Your focus
Rebounding in close games is won by the team that wants it more. Box-out battles test competitive drive at its most physical , the player with more desire wins. Teams that dominate the boards through pure competitive drive consistently outperform more talented teams.
Coach shoots from the perimeter. Two offensive and two defensive players compete for the rebound.
Defenders must make contact on their assigned offensive player to box out. No early checking of the ball.
Team that gets 5 rebounds wins the round. Track across 5 rounds.
Debrief: Which players sought contact proactively? Which avoided it?
Goal
Success is winning the rebounding battle in the drill, more possessions created through boxing out means your effort controlled the glass.
Helpful cues
- Make contact first, don't wait for them to come to you
- Two hands above your chin, that's a chin rebound
- Competitive drive shows in your first step after the shot, was it toward or away?
