How it works
Teach young players a physical reset gesture to use after any mistake during a game.

Your focus
Young players need a concrete, physical tool to manage emotions after errors. A deliberate physical reset , like tapping their chest , interrupts the emotional spiral and signals the brain to refocus. This simple habit can prevent a single mistake from becoming a confidence-crushing chain reaction.
Teach players the 'reset button': tap your own chest twice with a closed fist.
During a moving with the ball or shooting drill, when a player makes an error, coach calls 'Reset!'
Player immediately performs the reset gesture, says 'Next play' out loud, and continues.
Practice this in 10 consecutive error scenarios. Coach induces errors by calling timeouts or asking questions mid-drill.
Helpful cues
- The mistake is over, the next play is what matters
- Two taps: you're telling your brain it's time to refocus
- Every great player misses, only great players reset quickly
