How it works

Develop resilience in defense by fighting through consecutive offensive possessions without allowing a basket.

What you need

  • basketball
  • hoop
  • partner

Your focus

Defense is a resilience test , every time offense scores, defender must immediately reset and compete harder. Players who can string together consecutive stops in the face of adversity build championship-level defensive toughness. The physical and mental fatigue of this drill mirrors the toughest game moments.

1

Defender must get 5 consecutive stops in 1v1 defense to complete the drill.

2

If offense scores, the count resets to zero regardless of how many stops the defender had.

3

Offense attacks full intensity every possession with no holding back.

4

Once defender earns 5 consecutive stops, roles switch. Track how many total possessions each defender needed.

Goal

Success is earning five consecutive stops, the fourth and fifth are the ones that count. Getting tired and still holding is the real benchmark.

Helpful cues

  • Zero means nothing, start your count again and compete harder
  • Resilience is counted in how you respond to the reset, not the stop
  • Five in a row takes grit that most players don't have, prove you have it

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Consecutive count required is 3, not 5.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge
