How it works

Sustain a competitive and respectful attitude through 10 consecutive 1v1 possessions regardless of outcome.

What you need

  • basketball
  • hoop

Your focus

Extended 1v1 play creates frustration, fatigue, and ego challenges that reveal true attitude. Players who can compete hard and stay positive throughout build the mental DNA of elite athletes. Coaches and scouts notice attitude in exactly these sustained competitive moments.

1

Two players play 10 consecutive 1v1 possessions, alternating who has the ball.

2

After each possession, both players must give a specific verbal acknowledgment, 'good move' or 'my fault' as appropriate.

3

Coach scores each player 1–3 on attitude per possession (3 = excellent competitive respect).

4

Player with highest combined attitude score wins the drill, regardless of baskets scored.

Goal

It's there when your body language in rep 10 looks like rep 1, same engagement, same intensity, whether you're up or down. That consistency is the benchmark.

Helpful cues

  • Compete like it's the finals and act like it's practice
  • Acknowledge good play, it shows confidence, not weakness
  • Stay locked in possession 10 the same as possession 1
