How it works
Train wrestlers to produce maximum technical effort in the final 60 seconds of a round when fatigue is highest.

Your focus
Matches are frequently decided in the final minute, and wrestlers who can maintain or increase their effort level when fatigued win disproportionately. This drill specifically conditions the final-minute effort by making it the focus rather than a by-product. Repeated exposure to max-effort finishes builds the physical and psychological capacity to perform when it matters most.
Run a full three-minute live round at normal intensity.
At the two-minute mark, coach calls 'Final Minute', both wrestlers immediately increase to maximum effort.
Coach scores effort increase: did the pace go up? Did attack rate increase? Did technique hold?
Post-round: wrestler self-rates effort from 0-10 on the final minute only.
Goal
It's real when your technique in the final minute matches the first minute, fatigue is not a reason to give up position or stop attacking.
Helpful cues
- The last minute is where champions are made
- More tired means more mental, fight your mind
- Empty the tank in the last minute, not the first
