How it works
Ignite competitive drive in young wrestlers by making the first score of a round a celebrated primary goal.
What you need

Your focus
Young wrestlers often wait and react, losing the competitive initiative that leads to first-score advantages. Making the first score a specific, celebrated goal creates urgency and competitive intent from the whistle. This competitive habit , always seeking to score first , is a positive driver of effort and tactical aggression.
Both wrestlers start in neutral position, goal is to score first (any legal takedown).
When one wrestler scores, stop the round and celebrate the scorer loudly.
Reset and go again, best of five 'score first' rounds.
Wrestlers track their own score-first record and try to improve it each session.
Goal
You've got it when you score first in the round, your first move is an attack, not a feeling-out.
Helpful cues
- Be the first to attack
- The first point puts pressure on them, not you
- Compete from the whistle
