How it works
Build the habit of resetting mentally and physically between rounds to maintain effort and composure throughout a session.
What you need
- wrestling mat
Your focus
Young wrestlers who get scored on often carry emotional weight into the next round, compounding their performance decline. This drill creates a structured physical and mental reset protocol between rounds. Consistent use of a reset routine builds resilience as a repeatable skill.
Complete a 60-second live round, intentionally allow some scoring to occur.
Immediately after the whistle, wrestler walks to a corner, takes three deep breaths, and states one positive action they will do next round.
Coach provides one technical cue only, no critique of mistakes.
Begin next round on signal; coach observes whether the wrestler's effort and composure improved.
Goal
Success is beginning the next round at the same energy level you ended the last, you reset, breathe, and go again.
