How it works

Develop compete level by challenging wrestlers to not just survive bad positions in live wrestling but to score from them.

Your focus

Survive-mode wrestling , where the athlete's only goal is to not be pinned or scored on , produces low compete level in practice and matches. Reframing survival positions as scoring opportunities trains athletes to maintain offensive thinking even in their most defensive moments. This competitive reframe is one of the most significant mental shifts that separates mid-level from elite competitors.

Top wrestler begins in a dominant control position (tight waist with a breakdown).

Bottom wrestler's stated goal is not just to escape but to reverse or produce a near-fall of their own.

Score all points from both wrestlers during the 90-second round to reinforce that the bottom wrestler is competing, not surviving.

Debrief: coach highlights any moment where the bottom wrestler went from defensive to offensive.
