How it works
Use video review to shift players from outcome-focused thinking to process-focused analysis of personal improvement.

Your focus
When players watch game film looking only at wins and losses, they miss the most valuable data: process improvements. Training players to identify 'better than last time' moments in film builds objective self-awareness and growth mindset simultaneously. This approach also reduces fear of film review as a punitive experience.
Pull 10 clips from a recent match: a mix of successful and unsuccessful plays for one player.
Ask the player to watch each clip and rate it 1–5 not on outcome, but on execution quality (platform angle, footwork, communication).
Identify two clips where the player showed improvement from earlier in the season, even if the result was a missed ball.
Player sets one specific technical process goal for the next practice based on their own film analysis.
Helpful cues
- Did you do your job? That's the only question
- A missed ball with perfect platform is still growth
- Compare yourself to yourself, not to others
