How it works
Train players to read the server's body cues before the ball is struck and pre-position to improve passing efficiency.

Your focus
Advanced passers do not react to the ball , they anticipate it by reading toss height, shoulder angle, and hip orientation before contact. Early reading dramatically improves platform angle and reduces reaction time. This drill bridges physical passing mechanics with cognitive focus.
A server stands at the service line; one passer is in receive position on the opposite side.
Before the server tosses, the passer must call out 'cross' or 'line' to predict ball direction based on the server's shoulder angle.
The serve is executed and the passer passes to a target setter position at Zone 3.
Track percentage of correct predictions each round and chart improvement over 3 weeks.
Goal
You've got it when you're already moving to your passing spot before the server contacts the ball, pre-read, not reaction.
Helpful cues
- Watch the server's hips and shoulders, not the ball yet
- Commit to a read before the toss
- Move your feet to the ball based on your read, not late reaction
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Server announces 'cross' or 'line' immediately before serving, giving the passer a 1-second head start.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Add a second passer and let the server pick either player, forcing both to read and communicate. No account needed
