How it works
Train players to read ball trajectory and make an immediate position decision before the ball crosses the net.

Your focus
Beginning players react to where the ball is; skilled players react to where the ball is going. Teaching trajectory reading at the 10-13 age range builds the anticipatory decision-making habit during the optimal window for perceptual skill development. Players who read early arrive balanced; those who wait late lunge and fail.
Coach stands on a box on one side of the net; passer stands in base position opposite.
Coach tosses the ball in one of three trajectories: deep, short, or sharp angle, passer must call the zone ('deep,' 'short,' or 'angle') before the ball crosses the net.
Player moves to the correct zone and passes; correct zone call + quality pass = 2 points; correct zone call only = 1 point; no call = 0.
Run 15 reps per player; track point totals and identify which trajectory is hardest to read for each player.
Goal
It's clicking when your feet start moving before the ball crosses the net, you're reading trajectory, not waiting for it to arrive.
Helpful cues
- Call the zone before it lands
- Watch the tosser's shoulders to predict direction
- First step must be toward your read

Coach adds a fake release (shoulder turn without tossing) once per 15-rep set; players must not commit on a fake.No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
