How it works
Expose players to manufactured high-pressure scoring situations and practice maintaining composure through them.

- scoreboard or whiteboard
Your focus
Players often unravel under pressure because they rarely train under it. Starting scrimmages at 23-23 or 24-24 forces athletes to manage nerves repeatedly in practice, gradually normalizing the feeling. The repeated exposure reduces cortisol-driven tunnel vision and keeps decision quality high at crunch time.
Set up a 3v3 or 4v4 scrimmage and begin every game at score 23-23 (game to 25).
After each point, both teams perform a 5-second group composure check, hands in, deep breath, one word of encouragement to a teammate.
Play the two-point finish; after each game coach asks one player per team: 'What did your body feel like and what did you do with it?'
Rotate teams and repeat; track wins but equally celebrate composure behaviors observed by the coach.
Goal
Success is maintaining your normal play quality when the score is manufactured to feel intense, same focus, same execution.
