How it works

Catch a fixed mindset thought in the moment, name it out loud, and replace it with a growth reframe before the next rep.

Your focus

Fixed mindset thoughts ('I can't do this,' 'I'm not good at this') trigger avoidance and reduced effort. The first step to changing them is noticing them , which requires specific attention. This drill trains that noticing muscle. Naming the thought interrupts the automatic loop; replacing it builds a new default response over time.

1

During a drill or practice activity, pause whenever you catch a fixed mindset thought.

2

Say it out loud: 'Fixed mindset, I just thought [X].'

3

Replace it immediately with a growth version: 'I can't do this yet' or 'This is hard because I'm learning.'

4

Execute the next rep with the growth frame as your operating thought.

5

Track how many catches you make per session, more catches means better awareness, not more problems.

Goal

Player successfully catches and reframes at least two fixed mindset thoughts per session.

Helpful cues

  • Naming it takes away its power
  • The 'yet' is not optional, it changes everything
  • More catches = more awareness, not more weakness
