How it works
Build basic on-court stamina by sustaining short rallies with active movement between each shot.
What you need
- tennis racket
- foam or low-compression tennis balls
- court
- cones
Your focus
Young players develop aerobic base and rally endurance through repetitive, fun movement. Short distances keep effort manageable while teaching the habit of resetting after every ball. Consistent repetition builds the cardiovascular foundation needed for longer match play.
Set up a mini-court using cones inside the service boxes on both sides of the net.
Coach or partner feeds a soft ball to the player, who must hit it back and immediately recover to a central cone.
The player attempts to keep the rally going for as long as possible, moving to each ball and returning to center after each shot.
Count consecutive rallies and challenge the player to beat their personal best each round.
Goal
You've got it when you keep moving between each shot even when you want to stand still, your feet never stop during the whole rally.
Helpful cues
- Touch the cone before the next ball comes
- Little steps as the ball bounces
- Keep going, you can do one more!
